RIP Scarlet

Unfortunately, as wildlife carers, we see a lot of death. We move dead animals off the road, check dead mothers for joeys, and even when we are able to rescue an animal, we cannot always save them.

Scarlet was a beautiful little wombat who came to MCWR from another carer. She was very sick with worms when she arrived and was treated successfully but she recently became ill again. It was thought that this may be the aftermath of the damage done by the original worm infestation. After a painful struggle, Scarlet was taken to a vet yesterday who decided that the best thing for her was to euthanase her.

Scarlet was an wonderful wombat. Her gentle and affectionate nature made her very lovable. She will be missed.
